Middle School is a big change for students due to the various teachers students have, the rigor of the curriculum and the expectation of academic and social responsibility. One of the biggest changes from elementary school to middle school is that students are now expected to take ownership of their learning. This means that it is the student's responsibility to manage their time adequately and maintain good organizational skills. As a middle school student, please make sure that you are always prepared. "Failure to prepare is preparing to fail." This means you should study for tests, take good notes in class and pay attention and also do all your assignments. Also make sure you seek help and ask questions early on so you don't fall behind. I look forward to guiding you along the middle school path. Yes, the year will be challenging but the reward of education that you will receive will undoubtedly prepare you for the future and make you a stronger student.

FAQ

Is There Extra Credit?

No. It should be your responsibility to always do your best on your assignments and take pride in completing them. You are learning to develop excellent work ethic and therefore you shouldn't bank on making up for poor work with extra credit.

How Do Assessment Retakes Work?

Retakes are an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of key essential math standards. In order to be eligible for taking a retake, you must demonstrate completion of all assigned homework for a specific standard. Look at the course syllabus for specific details on the amount of times retakes are available and what days they can be taken. Review the retake form as well (see below for forms).

I Was Absent. What Do I Do?

If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the missed work and turn in any assignments when you return. Daily homework can be stamped during office hours (See Syllabus). You can always find the homework updated on the website or you can contact your Study Partner. If you were absent during a test day, you must MAKE UP the test during RETAKE DATES. You DO NOT need to complete a retake form. If you were absent for a retake, you can make-up that retake during a different retake day.

Is Late Work Accepted

Late work will be accepted for late projects/application assignments only. SEE SYLLABUS for process . There will be a 10% off the final grade for late work.
